Our ecomobility policy
When we used to leave early in the morning, when we used to go on the roads... by bike 🚲
The impact of transport on the carbon balance
Our dear Yves is not the only fan of bicycles - we at Rzilient are good fans too. If our commuting to work represents only 0.1% of our carbon footprint in 2021 (see our article on the subject), it's not for nothing!
It should be noted that, according to the Green IT 2021 Benchmark, the impact of physical flows of people should not be underestimated. If we take a specific example, that of an IT department: "Consumables and human activity remain impactful components of the environmental footprint of the information system. The kilometers traveled by IT professionals and service providers during their home-to-work and professional trips remain the main source of environmental impact for the IT department, which contributes up to one-third of the environmental impact of the information system."(Green IT 2021 Benchmark)
Rzilient's transition to soft mobility
We are proud to have decided about 1 year ago - when Rzilient was only a few months old - to develop a soft mobility policy. In an effort to be consistent, and in order to take a CSR approach all the way, we made the decision to offer all team members the possibility to adopt soft and low-carbon modes of transportation for their daily commute.
In concrete terms, how have we implemented this policy?
We have set a monthly budget per person, and offer 2 alternatives in Barcelona:
- Coverage of public transportation costs;
- Renting a bike from Rzilient or paying the maintenance costs for employees who already have their own bike.
We chose Kleta as our service provider because of the simplicity, efficiency and responsiveness of their services - much to the delight of the Rzilient team, as the video below attests!
You too, work on your calves, get on your bike 🚴

NB: This action is part of a much broader reflection on the impact of Rzilient - from the business model first and foremost, to the offices and employees in parallel.
As the Manifesto for an Ecological Awakening points out: "What is the point of riding a bicycle when you work for a company whose activity contributes to the acceleration of climate change or the depletion of resources?
It is essential to adopt a systemic vision and to combine individual and collective actions, as Thomas Wagner reminds us in his dedicated article.
