Our initiative to contribute to the restoration of ecosystems with PUR Project
It is the last brick of a complete climate strategy: you know it and we have already told you a lot about it. It's a word that starts with "c" and ends with "tion"... No, it's not the compensation, but the carbon contribution!
A quick reminder: a company cannot be carbon neutral on its own scale, hence our rejection of the use of the term "compensation", which is misleading. A company can, however, contribute to global carbon neutrality, and this is what we intend to do.
As part of our thinking around our low-carbon trajectory, we first measured our footprint through our collaboration with Sami, and are now committed to reducing our emissions, both within and outside our value chain. The final step is to help increase carbon sinks by financing sequestration projects. And this is what we are going to do through our collaboration with PUR Projet.
Explanations.
The Ici on Sème campaign of PUR Projet
So who better to engage in a carbon contribution initiative than PUR Project? A project developer, this company specializes in the design, implementation and monitoring of community-based agroforestry projects, including certified carbon projects, in a variety of countries and producing communities. Since 2008, PUR Projet has developed over 50 projects in more than 40 countries, planted 19 million trees and worked with 60,000 farmers. Since we already work together and given our excellent relationship, we have chosen to operate with them. (See our press release)
We particularly chose to participate in the financing of their Ici on Sème campaign. Ici on Sème is a project for the regeneration of ecosystems on the scale of the territories and agricultural sectors in France. Its objective is to bring together farmers, foresters, cooperatives and companies in the preservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change. All this by creating sustainable agriculture and forestry projects to transform these sectors in a responsible manner. We decided to contribute to the implementation of their agroforestry projects for the requirement and the positive impact of this model.
We are proud to join the collective alongside committed companies like Ynsect, TBS, or Malakoff Humanis.💚
The carbon contribution of Rzilient and the Rzilient Club
The purpose of this partnership is twofold. The first is to enable us to participate in this carbon contribution project on our own behalf as part of our own low-carbon trajectory. The second, outside our value chain, is to encourage our clients and partners to get involved in the process to support the creation of carbon sinks and the regeneration of ecosystems in France by financing agroecology projects.
This project allows us to act on the third pillar of the Net Zero Initiative:
- C: Removing carbon from the atmosphere through sinks within and outside our value chain
Indeed, our products and services aim to support our partner companies in reducing their digital footprint by putting responsible and circular practices back at the center of their digital approach. That said, we are now working to enable them to finance reduction projects to have a more comprehensive approach, so that they can act on the two levers to achieve global neutrality: reducing emissions and increasing sinks.
This project is the final link in our climate commitment and now allows us to act on the two levers and three pillars of the NZI in parallel, enabling us to maximize our contribution to reducing emissions and increasing global sinks.
The objectives of this collaboration
To make a long story short, our goals for this collaboration are as follows:
- Participate on our behalf in the financing of the Ici on Sème project;
- To offer our clients the possibility to make a voluntary contribution to the project through us (it goes without saying that we cannot claim these contributions to the Project!);
- And thus join the Ici On Sème collective of committed actors who participate in financing the increase of carbon sinks with farmers and foresters in France.
All of this to allow PUR Projet to use these contributions to implement the Ici on Sème program, and its tree planting on agroforestry plots located in France. We thus share the common goal of restoring ecosystems and fostering community resilience.
A collective and rapid action to reach this objective is necessary, join us in financing environmental projects that have an impact on the territories and biodiversity! Join us in a collective of passionate actors, close to the field. We have until June 2022 to collect contributions.
Top time. ⏱
Thank you again for your trust in PUR Projet!
Would you also like to contribute to planetary neutrality by participating in the Ici on Sème project with the rest of the Club? Let's talk about it! 👩🌾
