The 5 stages of refurbishment in France
 |

Today, refurbished products are more and more in the spotlight, and that's a good thing! But buying devices that are not new, it can sometimes be scary. You don't want to have a less functional product, with a battery that doesn't last, or a device that is slower than the new version.

We explain you how a reconditioning happens, and the differences between a reconditioned device and a second-hand one. Because the advantages of choosing a refurbished device are numerous, it would be a shame to miss out!

What is refurbished in France?

A reconditioned product in France is above all a device that has been repaired and checked by certified experts to make it as new. All its components have been checked and put back in working order.

Until April 2021, there was no legislation that framed the term "refurbished to new." The devices were said to be "refurbished" or "like new" which is not entirely accurate.

So you have to be careful. New, reconditioned as new or second hand devices are not exactly the same, especially if they do not come from local circuits.

The opportunity is not accompanied by any internal or external verification of the device and therefore has no guarantee on the operation.

The refurbished offers a warranty ranging from 12 to 24 months depending on the company and puts on sale devices that have been analyzed, refurbished and repaired if necessary.

The 5 essential steps of a reconditioned product in France

A reconditioned product in France is not done just any old way. At Rzilient, we work exclusively with local partners who are experts in refurbishing and who ensure that your equipment is efficient, reliable and suitable.

1. Preamble to the analysis

The first step is the collection. Whether it's old computer equipment that has been sent for recycling, or devices that have been returned within the allowed withdrawal period; all computer products are sorted.

These are computer devices without major malfunctions that come from a short circuit and therefore local.

Then, all the data present on the various computer terminals are deleted:

  • destruction of the sim card;
  • deleting the hard disk;
  • system reset ;
  • reconfiguration of the factory settings.

2. Analysis of the state

Then comes the time when the expert repairers analyze every feature of the device to see what is worn out or no longer working.

The goal is to find the slightest fault. Ignition button, test the battery and its duration, use the buttons to see if they respond well and quickly; this step is essential to see the elements to repair or change.

3. Internal repairs

The phone, computer or other computing device is opened to see the components that need to be changed. The repairer takes the opportunity to clean the interior, remove dust and make sure that the components work smoothly and are not weakened.

Everything is repaired to have a reconditioned device as new, with components that do not differ from the product in its original version.

4. External cleaning

The only noticeable difference with a new product is the exterior.

The authorized repairer changes the screen if he sees a crack or too many scratches and cleans the device thoroughly. Dirty ports are dusted and the external condition is assessed.

These are the famous grades that allow us to offer a fair price according to the external condition of the device.

At Rzilient there are 3 of them:

  • Grade A: this is the highest level, the device is in almost new condition. There are no visible scratches.
  • Grade B: it concerns devices in excellent conditionbut with micro-scratches on the visible part.
  • Grade C: the condition is not quite new, there are micro-scratches and scratches a little more important but it does not affect the operation of the device.

5. Controls and certifications of refurbished products in France

This last step is essential, it ensures that all the components are functional and allows us to change those that may have been lost. No refurbished device is sold if it does not work at 100%.

This condition diagnosis is performed as many times as necessary.

The specificity of refurbished devices in France is that they are sold with a functioning guarantee. At Rzilient, this warranty is for 12 months and can be extended. We also guarantee to take care of and send you new devices as quickly as possible if they malfunction.

Conclusion

Buying refurbished iT equipment has many advantages. That's why it is more and more popular in companies.

It allows you to save a lot of money because a reconditioned device is up to 70% cheaper than a new one.

But above all, opting for refurbished products allows you to have a much smaller carbon footprint. Because it is the manufacturing of the devices that has a huge ecological cost and that pollutes.

Thanks to the different guarantees provided by our refurbishing process, there is no need to hesitate between new and refurbished. But if you still have a doubt or a question, we are here to answer you!
