Recently, Rzilient's team of IT experts helped leChaudron.io, one of our corporate customers, to migrate their workstations from one version of Windows to another.

As always, we're sharing this feedback with you to show you the power of our solution and the importance we place on the customer experience at Rzilient.

The result: safer workstations, saving time and money!

The context and details of the intervention

First, let's take a look at the background to the migration, followed by a more detailed description of how it works.

The migration context

leChaudron.io is a company that supports decision-makers and teams in the private and public sectors who wish to (re)define a strategy and lead a change of organization or culture, in a context of major transitions.

In the leChaudron.io team, the workstations were equipped with a version of Windows that didn't run BitDefender antivirus, among other things. Our team carried out the migration to Windows Pro, remotely.

The aim of the operation was to secure the team's computers. When our IT manager installed our remote management tool (MDM) on the machines, he realized that they were running a version of Windows that did not allow BitDefender anti-virus software, among others, to run. It was time for an update!

All these operations were carried out remotely, with an average intervention time of around 20 minutes per station.

Details of operations carried out

In concrete terms, our Service Desk teams contacted each member of the customer's team to determine their availability and synchronize their schedules with those of our IT expert.

During the intervention, our expert followed the following process:

● In the machine's Windows configuration, he inserted a generic key as a license number, in order to disconnect the license associated with the old version of Windows.

● When Windows Pro was installed, the real license key was replaced, to enable rapid migration.

This type of operation cannot be carried out as a group at present.

In addition, as Windows licenses are involved, this work is a manipulation requiring a high level of security, so it's important for our IT expert to be able to have 20 minutes of dedicated interaction with each employee, present at his or her workstation.

In fact, from a technical point of view, there are no particular difficulties. Our experts carry out this type of migration on a regular basis.

The challenge lies mainly on the organizational side, not the technical one: finding an available slot with the user and synchronizing schedules is not always easy, given our customers' very busy schedules 🙂

On the whole, it took around a week from identifying the need to migrate the Windows version on the workstations to actually carrying out the migration.

Migration benefits for our customer

Let's take a look at how our customer leChaudron.io, and its teams, have benefited from this migration.

Significant time and cost savings for the customer

No need for an expert to travel to the site, and machine and employee downtime of just 20 minutes.

These two advantages simply translate into a highly satisfying customer experience:

● By working remotely, we avoid costly travel (which represents substantial savings for our customers), and we can also schedule appointments over a wider timeframe than in person.

● Thanks to the optimization of upstream work, the intervention lasts just 20 minutes, ensuring that each employee is not disturbed for more than a slightly extended coffee break 🙂

Juliette Baudry of leChaudron.io testifies:

"The platform enables us to be more efficient, faster in carrying out time-consuming IT tasks, such as onboarding or ordering equipment, and thus optimize our time and resources. We're really pleased."

At Rzilient, one of our goals is to bring you the efficiency of a solution that lets you focus on your core business !

Machine compatibility with Rzilient

Some versions of the most common operating systems are not compatible with professional software suites, such as Rzilient's outsourced IT management tool.

But once this simple (and quick) update has been carried out, everything else becomes child's play.

In fact, following the Windows migration carried out for leChaudron.io, Rzilient was installed on the workstations in a matter of minutes!

Securing workstations

Finally, at a time when cybersecurity is becoming a key issue for businesses, securing workstations is one of the most effective ways of limiting the risks of intrusion and hacking.

Simply migrating to a version of Windows that makes it easier to install a high-performance antivirus is a simple and effective action to take.
